Talks
Talks can be carried out at the venue of your choice. We do not currently have facilities to host talks from Buttercup Meadow..
The following talks are given by Andrew Davenport. They are based on fact and experience through over 25 years of gardening organically.
The talks usually last for 1 hour followed by questions and answers.

Title: 'Gardener's Cottage: An Organic Plant Nursery and Composting Garden'
A garden and plant nursery that has evolved based on organic gardening, composting and sustainable methods.
Title: 'Quick Return Compost Making'
How to make fertile compost in as little as 4 weeks without turning the heap using the Quick Return Method invented in the 1930's by Maye E Bruce, one of the founder members of the Soil Association'
Title: 'The Low Maintenance Organic Cottage Garden'
Using organic, cheap and easy to set up methods to create and maintain herbaceous borders in the cottage garden.
Title: 'The Low Maintenance Organic Kitchen Garden'
How to create and maintain a kitchen garden plot of fruit, veg and herbs using organic methods involving the minimum of resources and expenditure.
Title: 'Barley Straw Weed Control'
Provides an overview into the theory and practical application of using barley straw to eliminate weeds in a matter of months. It is a non invasive method of eliminating weeds, without digging, without chemicals It adds carbon, preserves soil health and increases soil biodiversity. The soil will be bare earth and ready to plant into within 3 to 4 months.
The cost of the talks is £100 each, payable by cash or cheque on the date of the talk. Travelling expenses will be charged at 45p per mile.
We usually bring along plants to sell at our talks as the attendees usually like to buy them and they add a certain beauty to liven up the event!
Please try to give us as much notice as possible to plan for the talk, however we are keen to accommodate your requirements and may well be able to respond quickly.
